AccuData Integrated Marketing Finishes in Top 10 of the Worldwide 2011 Hearst Challenge, Competing Against More than 500 Analytics Teams

MYERS, FL – October 11, 2011 – AccuData Integrated Marketing™, a leading full-service database marketing firm, today announced that it finished in the top 10 out of more than 500 worldwide participants in the Hearst Challenge 2011. The 2011 Hearst Challenge – which is sponsored by Hearst Magazines and judged by the Wharton School of Business – was an analytics competition that asked participants to predict recipients’ responses to email solicitations.
More than 500 teams from more than 50 countries entered the competition, which began in June of this year and concluded in late August. Each team was given historical information regarding the response behavior of individuals to email campaigns, demographics for the individuals, and details about the nature and timing of the email campaigns. Teams were asked to use this information to develop a model that predicted whether a recipient would open an email, and whether they would click the link provided in the email. The models were evaluated over a hold out sample to determine the winners of the competition. The final scores of the top ten teams were statistically very close. The AccuData team was lead by Andrew Russo, Vice President, Modeling and Analytics for the company.
